Matt and Rach's Festive Fall Toned Wedding
I don't know about you, but I'm a sucker for rich warm colours and unique florals! So Matt and Rach's beautiful wedding was right up my alley. To say I'm obsessed with the gorgeous rust and terracotta tones of the orchids in this wedding is a huge understatement!
Rachel has always been someone whose style I admire, and her wedding was no exception! Those of you who are looking for bridesmaid inspiration will love the chic mismatched black gowns she went with for her bridal party, and if you are looking for your photographer I think you will be thrilled with AndStory's beautiful work. They did such an amazing job of capturing Rach and Matt's newlywed glow, you can feel the romance in every shot!
Tell us about your love story?
Matt and I met a couple of months before we started dating. Matt had just got out of a relationship and I was seeing his friend. I knew at this point that he liked me but he never made a proper move and would often flirt and tease me. However, when the relationship with his friend ended, Matt decided he was not prepared to lose me to a friend again and we started dating within a week of that. It was quick and fun and we both knew pretty soon that we loved each other and were definitely going to get married.
Tell us your proposal story?
Matt flew down to Cape Town for a surprise weekend and took me on a food tour (I love food) to all our favourite places in Cape Town. He started us off at Starlings Cafe for coffee, a berry farm in Franschhoek for scones and finally dropped me off at the Babylonstoren spa to butter me up. I was then collected by a friend who took me to the spot where Matt proposed. On a bridge in the forest. Matt then wined and dined me at Babel with champagne. It was magical guessing where we were headed to next.
How did you choose your bridesmaid dresses?
I saw these dresses in Lipsy I loved. Given that I had no colour scheme I could pick any colour dress. But i felt that my bridesmaids would look truly beautiful in these dresses so I chose them. They did look beautiful.
What were your favourite personal details at your wedding?
I'm not sure. I guess the most personal detail was our reverend. Matt's Dad flew him up from Cape Town to marry us. He created a truly special ceremony for everyone.
The band was spectacular too - without them the party would never have started like it did.
Your decor was amazing! Tell us more about the aesthetic and what you loved?
I loved cymbidium orchids and the rest went from there. I prefer an easy look and didn't want huge floral arrangements.
What are your favourite moments from the wedding?
No one moment. We had a blast. I think we truly tried to enjoy our own wedding and acted like guests - partying till 02:00am in the morning.
What was your favourite part of planning your wedding?
Everything. I like putting things together. Each element comes together to create an experience for your guests. One needs to consider each moment of the wedding and how a vendor can compliment that. For example, our band and ice cream from Paul Ballen's ice cream went together so well. Everyone kept dancing with ice cream in their hands.
